The holidays are a time to spend with friends and family, and to give generously to those that need it. That’s why every holiday we give a roof to a well deserving family in the Bucks County area. This year, we chose George and Ida Doran because their story was just too important to ignore.
George Doran always helped his Bucks County neighbors on Dixon Ave. He shoveled his neighbors’ snow covered sidewalks, and was the person to call when you needed help around the house. One day, George was fixing his roof with his son when his ladder suddenly gave out.
He fell two stories and landed onto his car—breaking his lumbar spine. George spent the Thanksgiving holiday recovering from his third surgery, and his old roof continued to damage his home. We couldn’t turn away from this story of a neighbor in need, so we rushed to fix his roof right away. We installed a brand new roof on Monday, and the Doran family couldn’t be happier.
We also repaired the roof of Dorothy Grant for free. We received an overwhelming response on Facebook, and we couldn’t ignore Dorothy’s needs either! Her neighbors boasted that she had the best smile on the block, but her roof needed repairs badly. She also needed new homeowners insurance, but with a leaky roof—she was in danger of denial. We couldn’t let that happen! We swooped in and fixed her roof so she could rest easy with her new homeowners insurance. Now, she can continue to work around the house and enjoy her morning walk to ACME worry free!
