Hero’s Home

Brooks Kanga Roof Supports the Travis Manion Hero’s Home for a Bucks County Veteran and His Family.

It seems like just yesterday the team at A Brooks Kanga Roof put the finishing touches on a new roof for a Bucks County family in need last Christmas.  The team is at it again, this time helping a veteran and his family in the Travis Manion Foundation.

A. Brooks Kanga Roof teamed up with CBS Philadelphia and the Travis Manion Foundation to present Hero’s Home, the re-building of U.S. army veteran Jack Macintosh’s home. Jack, a Gulf War veteran, experienced significant physical and emotional hardship during and after his deployment. In 2012, Jack’s home was severely damaged from hurricane Sandy. To honor jack’s service, our home improvement community has stepped up to help give Jack “a home fit for a hero.”

“After hearing the story, we were compelled to help,” said Abe Brooks, owner of A Brooks Kanga Roof.  “No family should live in disrepair, especially a veteran of our great nation.”

Abe went to meet Jack and got to work inspecting the damaged house.

After the meeting, he went to work to assemble his team of vendors and professionals to jump in and help.

After several phone calls, meetings and follow ups, the Kanga team spent 4 days at the Macintosh home, completing the job with new roof, fascia, gutters and fresh blown in insulation.

Several other contractors stepped up as well to replace Jack’s kitchen, carpet, and HVAC to name a few upgrades.

“When we do a project like this, I love the fact that the whole team shows up ready to make a difference.  We are blessed to have a group of professionals with a big heart in the right place” proudly states Abe,

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) empowers veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop character in future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis’ legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, “If Not Me, Then Who…” Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes live on in the next generation.
